Production for iPad 3′s QXGA displays has reportedly started

Reportedly, the new iPad will have a 10 inch IPS screen with a 2048 x 1536 resolution, for a total of 3,145,728 pixels – four times more than the 786,432 pixels found on the displays of iPad 1 and iPad 2.
It’s not the first time we’re hearing the new iPad would have such a huge resolution. And it also wouldn’t be the first time when Apple increases the resolution of a product’s display so drastically – the iPhone 4 brought a 960 x 640 screen (another 4x increase – compared to the iPhone 3GS’ 480 x 320 resolution).
The exact name of the new iPad is still a mystery. It could be iPad 3, or iPad HD, or who knows what else. In any case, Apple will most likely announce the new tablet in early 2012.
It remains to be seen if that 7.85 inch iPad Mini will also be announced. Shim says “there’s no reason” why it shouldn’t be – but, well let’s wait and see what Apple has to say on this.
